Wildflower Bouquet

Crazy thing happened. I was inspired in an overwhelming way by the colors of Spring that were popping up all around me. My mind was taken over by the desire to pick colorways, cast on, and just start working it out of me and into the design of the shawl.

The colors of spring
I pulled out some minis leftover from a previous advent project and found the perfect colorway to match: Canopy by Knitted Wit
A few rows in and I knew I was going in the right direction

Once I got started, it came together quickly. I hadn’t intended on putting out another pattern this summer, wanting to focus my attention on Solstice Swells and my To Be Named test knit but once again the urge was overwhelming and I knew I had to release it.

First though I wanted to knit a sample using two colors, and started looking for inspiration with an image search. The flowers that came up could not have been more perfect:

These images make me want to knit about 100 versions of Wildflower Bouquet! Diving into my stash I came up with a light/dark pink combo of Goosey Fibers Sock and quickly cast on another shawl.

The interest was so overwhelming I decided to do a KAL that will last all Summer long. Because we shouldn’t have deadlines in the Summer, the KAL starts July 1st and runs through August 31st. Wildflower Bouquet will be available for download on Ravelry July 1st with the Pre-KAL pattern information available June 17th. If you are following me on Instagam, I will be posting a code to download the pattern for free through May 31st. Join in the fun of the KAL by using hashtag #wildflowerbouquetkal22 in your posts.

Shawls finished by Midnight EDT 08.31.22 will be entered into a drawing for one of three prizes:
– One Hookers Corner sock/fingering in Date Night, Charknit notions bag, & Save the Bees enamel pin
– One Barnyard Knits sock/fingering in Hayride, Packet of wildflower seeds, & Save the Bees enamel pin
– $25 off + free shipping to Charknit on Etsy

Winners will be chosen via random number generator once the KAL has ended from posted finished objects – Post a photo of your finished Wildflower Bouquet shawl using the hashtag #wildflowerbouquetkal22 by the end of the day on August 31st (11:59PM EDT) to be entered into the drawing.

Post WIP shots all summer long using the #wildflowerbouquetkal22 hashtag to show off your progress and encourage fellow KAL knitters!
